For Families

Are full-time nannies available on Nounou Neighbors?

No.  We specialize in sitting in the traditional sense and not in nannies.  Our sitters provide occassional sitting such as for a night out, for weekend activities, and during the summer.  We do have the occasional sitter available for a daytime activity  during the week (depending upon sitter availability).  You may be able to find an after-school nanny or summer nanny on Nounou Neighbors but it is not our focus nor is it guaranteed.

What sets Nounou Neighbors apart from other sitter websites?

We personally interview, coach and train each sitter.  We also perform a criminal background check on our Kansas City sitters in Johnson County, Kansas District Court and all Missouri County Courts and on our Wichita sitters in Sedgwick County and Butler County District Courts prior to them being approved to be featured on the website. Nounou Neighbors has built a unique system that sends a text to each sitter when a family posts a job and allows the family to receive text messages of sitters interested in their job that contain the sitter’s name, phone number and a link to their site profile.

How much does it cost to access the website?

$15 a month (first month is $50, which includes a one-time registration fee of $35).  If you sign up for a year membership your registration fee is waived.  There is no contract or long-term commitment.  You can cancel at any time.  Your credit card on file will be billed monthly on the day of the month you registered if you are paying by the month, or on the day of your one year anniversary if you prepay for one year of access.

How do I find a sitter?

Once you have registered to access the website and completed your profile, simply fill out a form to create a job seeking a sitter.  You will specify the type of service needed, dates/times needed, your location, your contact info, and the amount you want to pay.  All of our sitters will then receive a text message with your job details.  As sitters indicate that they are interested in your job you will receive real time text messages with interested sitters’ names, cell phone numbers, and a link to their profile.  You can then contact the potential sitters and work out the details.

How do I pay my sitter?

You will pay your sitter directly.  Nounou Neighbors does not charge any fees or percentages on what you pay your sitter.

Does Nounou Neighbors run background checks on the sitters?

Sitters over 18 are criminally background checked in Johnson County, Kansas District Court and all county courts in Missouri for Kansas City sitters and in Sedgwick County and Butler County District Courts for Wichita sitters.  Many of the sitters on Nounou Neighbors are minors.  Juvenile court records are generally not public records so any background check performed on minors would be unlikely to provide to any information. We also ensure that each sitter on our website has a profile picture and biography and we personally conduct a coaching and training session with each sitter.  We do encourage families to ask sitters for references and families are welcome to perform their own background checks if it gives them peace of mind.
